Thanks, Micah. I’ll have to check out that podcast then … been a while since I’ve listened to anything except old Webcomics Weeklies.
Kish is going to be longform, I just don’t have the humor to do gags (I barely write anything in Dax, I just help Aaron polish them up). It’s going to be a fantasy adventure, medium magic, leaning a bit dark … I just haven’t figured out the exact style yet. Though I might end up calling it “The Nightmaiden” as it might give a slightly better idea of what it’s about … a kind of batman type, vigilante, something or other.

Thanks, Jess! This is a topic that’s really got me thinking lately.

Kind of funny that the Webcomic Alliance covered a similar topic in today’s podcast! This was entirely coincidence :D

I didn’t mention above, but I think forcing yourself into a set number of pages per issue also gives you a good way to divide your comic up for print!

I take it Kish is going to be a long-form comic, too? You and I are on the same page (no pun intended) with how to launch these :D I plan to have Issue 1 complete and be at least started on drawing Issue 2 when I launch Djinnborn.

Looking forward to seeing Kish come live. If Dax is any indication, Kish will be awesome!

Nice post, Micah. Dax has erratic chapters, but since it’s a joke per strip as well as a story, it has occasional breaks. These breaks we throw in non-story jokes between the chapters, like the 2-3 minute shorts on Garfield and Friends or shows like that.

When I do get down to writing and drawing “Kish” I’m going to take this article into serious consideration. 20-30 page chapters/issues would be a great way to keep the story going. My plan is to have Issue 1 and 2 completed before launching. Then have Issue 1 in the archives at the beginning and do Issue 2 page by page while working on upcoming Issues. Will probably need a landing page to prevent spoilers.

Looking forward to Djinnborn finally coming out after watching you work on it for so long!
